It is nearly impossible wrap this book in just a few paragraphs so here it is in a nutshell. Though just a title of a book, W a n t. could quite possibly be one of the most powerful messages and inspirational works in the past several years.

Rest assured this is not a trick question, nor is this a mind game. Why is this one of the hardest questions in the world to answer? Regardless of who may be asking or your response, there is no wrong answer.

With two sections, the first half of the book is the W a n t. philosophy and how to apply and incorporate it into any lifestyle. It is a revolutionary concept of critical thinking designed to help the reader realize and capture their undiscovered positive desires. This philosophy is “real” enough for anyone to embrace and enjoy as they search to uncover their hidden passions and determinations. With a new, positive definition for one of the most misunderstood and misused words in the English language, new outcomes and unlimited possibilities arise with the conscious actions, which follow the realization and examination of one’s subconscious desires.

The second half is the amazing path the author has traveled from the bottom up, capturing everything he’s ever wanted—creating the very book he’s realized he has written by the end his story. Teetering along the edge of his idea of sanity, he slipped into the depths of social successfulness at a young age when a euphoric awakening led him to something astonishing.

Always obsessed with words and their meanings, one word taunted him relentlessly, begging for his attention. The author studied it, only to find something was wrong—very wrong. How can a word have an incorrect definition? Is this even possible? Scarcity, lack, unavailability, shortage, and absence—you get the idea. How can these words describe what you truly want in life? It simply doesn’t make much sense to him. He then made it his personal mission to redefine the word want and incorporate his inspirational life story along with it to back up his critical thinking philosophy. Karl grew up the eldest of three siblings in Irmo, South Carolina and attended high school and college in central North Carolina. In October of 2008, he returned to his birthplace to create a life for himself. Full of energy and the unflinching desire to be and do something big, his life wasn’t defined by anything in particular until the inspiration of his life proved to him otherwise. His book, W a n t., has made it into the hands of many, across the United States and several countries. His future projects are something to keep your eye on in 2012 and well into 2013!

Not your average self-help book, W a n t. by Karl L. Larsen is a full throttle ride into a young man's coming of age wrought by angst and rage. His writing is raw, but that's what makes it appealing. Larsen's ability to put life into perspective is uncanny considering that he's not even 30 years old. Clearly, he's just cutting his teeth with this first book, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
